As 2023 comes to a close, we want to take this holiday season to reflect on the many successes that TOGETHER, as a community, we made to support our unhoused neighbors.
We are closer to starting construction of the Poverello’s new Veterans Transitional Housing. Together with the City and County, the Pov opened the Johnson Street Shelter over a month early in September, providing a space to go for the hundreds of unhoused community members living in Missoula. With the recent opening of the new Blue Heron Place by our friends at Homeword and the Missoula Housing Authority, many of the Pov’s former guests now have apartments to call their own, and are creating stability in their lives.
We are moving the needle on the issues of homelessness and hunger, together.
But our work is not done. We ask one final time this year to give if you are able. When you contribute to the Poverello, you are a key stakeholder in our community’s effort to end homelessness and your support not only impacts the lives of our unhoused neighbors, but also reaffirms the importance of our mission to provide food, shelter, help, and hope to all who ask.
From keeping our kitchen stocked and ensuring everyone has a warm bed for the night, to providing a safe space for a Veteran transitioning from homelessness or an unsheltered neighbor recovering from illness, your gift allows us to serve houseless and hungry Missoulians in a variety of ways.
