How can I access meals in the soup kitchen?

Our commercial “soup” kitchen provides three meals, free of charge. Meals are served from 6:00a-7:30a (Breakfast), 11:30a-1:45p (Noon Meal), and 5p-6:30p (Dinner). For people who are employed and cannot make meal times we can provide a sack lunch.

How do I schedule an appointment at the on-site medical clinic?

The Poverello Center collaborates with Partnership Health Center’s Health Care for the Homeless Clinic to provide on-site medical treatment to homeless individuals and families. Appointments must be made directly with Partnership Health Center by calling 406-258-4789. Poverello Center staff cannot make, change, or cancel appointments.

What are the requirements for staying at the shelter?

People wishing to stay at the Shelter must be 18 or older and be willing to abide by our basic rules and expectations. We maintain a respectful environment. Respectful language and behavior is required at all times. Please do not possess or consume alcohol and drugs in the facility.

Due to storage limitations, the facility cannot store personal belongings outside of what fits into individual locker space.

Do you accommodate pets?

Under the ADA, non-profit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is normally allowed to go. In recognition of this, the Poverello Center extends services to individuals with pets who met the definition of “Service Animal”.

At the time of check in, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination and registration with Missoula County for your service animal.

Does the Shelter help residents find jobs?

In an effort to not duplicate services that already exist in the community, the Poverello Center works closely with other agencies, including Missoula Job Services, that provide employment and employment training to those looking for work.

How can I reach someone staying at the Shelter?

The names of residents who stay at the Poverello Center are kept confidential. Anyone wishing to contact someone they believe to be staying at the Shelter may call and leave a message in the resident voicemail at 406-728-1809. Staff members will relay messages to individuals residing here.

If you are trying to reach a shelter resident by mail, you may send the item addressed to the individual at PO Box 7644, Missoula MT 59807. Items not collected will be sent “return to sender” after 30 days. We strongly discourage anyone from mailing cash or items of value.
