The Poverello Center

Staff Spotlight: Frank

Our direct care staff work hard around the clock to ensure that our guests are safe and have their basic needs met. To keep the Poverello Center running smoothly, shift supervisors oversee the important work that happens every day. One of those supervisors, Frank, has been at the Poverello Center for over a year and is always happy to offer help and hope.

He says that his job can be summed up as “being ready and available to help both clients and staff.” Supervisors go between the Johnson Street Shelter and Poverello Center, and help manage shelter operations as well as any urgent situations that arise. Because it can be a difficult job, Frank says he’s grateful that “this type of work attracts some incredibly understanding and compassionate coworkers,” and he couldn’t do his job without our amazing direct care staff.

Our Shelter Manager Kristy Pszanowski says “Frank is a true and kind leader. He shows up everyday to keep the shelter running smoothly all the while having the biggest heart around. He is such a huge asset not just to our team but to the clients as well.”

Poverello Center staff always strive to treat all of our guests with dignity and respect, and Frank is one of the best at building genuine relationships. He says “I think I could listen to people talk forever, so my favorite memories with clients are when they trust me enough to open up to me.”

We are lucky to have a great team of people working with our guests every day, and grateful to Frank for all the work he puts in!
