Volunteer Spotlight: Megan Pfau

The annual fall Pumpkins for the Pov campaign relies on one important ingredient: pumpkins. With the help of a local farmer who has a heart for improving the world around her, we can bring them to stores!

Megan Pfau inherited a beautiful plot of land, just under 10 acres, when her father passed away earlier this year. Just outside of Florence, the farm has always had a history of providing for people. When Megan was a child, the farm took care of butcher cows that fed the neighboring community; now, she plans to work the land to build an interconnected array of crops, including pumpkins, berries, and apples. She’s proud to be growing food without pesticides and in healthy soil to ensure all of her crops are the highest quality possible for members of her community.

She says she was inspired to donate pumpkins to this campaign because she believes in leaving everything better than she found it, whether that’s her family farm, the nutrition of her neighbors, or the Poverello Center’s kitchen.

We are so grateful to Megan for her contribution, and cannot wait to work with her in the future!
