The Poverello Center

Volunteer Spotlight: St Francis Xavier Sack Lunch Team

For individuals with limited access to the Poverello Center’s services, or who need extra food during the day, sack lunches make a world of difference. Our Homeless Outreach Team and front desk give out roughly 1,000 of these every week, and an enormous amount of effort goes into making all of these lunches!

Luckily for us, the St. Francis Xavier Parish, located in downtown Missoula, maintains an expert lunch team, which makes hundreds of lunches every week!

Every Wednesday and Thursday, members of the church gather at the Poverello Center to work on lunches for our community. Between five and ten volunteers regularly show up, although they have had up to 14 people join them! Summer is often a difficult time for recruiting volunteers, but the team makes up for it with lots of joy and commitment.
Thank you to all of the volunteers from St. Francis Xavier Parish who reach out to our neighbors, and provide necessary sack lunches. To volunteer with this group, show up at the Poverello Center at 1:15 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. To volunteer at the Pov in another capacity, reach out to volunteer@thepoverellocenter.org.
